The mg midget is a small two-seater sports car produced by mg from 1961 to 1979. It revived a name that had been used on earlier models such as the mg m-type, mg d-type, mg j-type and mg t-type. The first version, announced at the end of june, 1961, was essentially a slightly more expensive badge-engineered version of the mkii austin-healey sprite. The original 'frogeye' sprite had been introduced specifically to fill the gap in the market left by the end of production of the mg t-type midget as its replacement; the mga had been a significantly larger and more expensive car with greater performance. Gr auto gallery is pleased to present this 1967 mg midget for consideration. According to the owner, this vehicle is in all original condition, he purchased the vehicle from a gentleman that had the vehicle stored in his garage for over 25 years. The green exterior paint is in great condition considering the age; the black interior is also in great shape showing no major rips, tears, holes or damage. This midget is powered by a 1275cc 4 cylinder motor that runs like a top and pairs perfectly with the 4 speed manual transmission. The 70,xxx miles on the odometer are believed to be original and correct to the body and the motor. A few extras come along with this mg, a few are; the original handbook, car cover, assorted mg/midget books and a webber carburetor. Mg a division of the british motor corporation produced just over 225,000 midgets from 1961 through 1980. The earliest versions or the mk i was essentially a slightly more expensive version of the austin healey sprite using a lot of the same components including engines all the way through the end of production. Over the years the engines grew from the 948cc with the mk i and ended up with the 1500 cc out of the triumph spitfire with the mk iv's. These engines produced a whopping 65 hp, they were capable of 100 mph speeds. These cars became iconic over time in the vintage race scenes, especially in the uk. The mg midget challenge is a series dedicated to the midget. The 1976 midget offered here is a very solid example. The paint shows some patina, but yet represents well. The interior appears to have newly reupholstered seats and a new vinyl top. The midget comes with a spare tire and a upgraded sound system with a sony cd player and explod speakers. The midget also has a tonneau cover and luggage rack. It rides on 13 inch tires that are mounted to factory steel wheels with beauty rings. Mg couldn't produce enough of these to keep up with demand. The successor of the mga was quicker, had a softer ride, and had great style. It was stripped down and disassembled, media blasted, painted and rebuilt then assembled. 3 mg did a lot of the work out of roscoe, illinois. The car was also professionally sorted out by university motors in grand rapids mi. The car comes with a detailed list of receipts and where the work was performed. The mgb rides on brand new tires and wheels. The owner spent several thousand dollars on brand new parts from moss motors as well. The car features its 4 cylinder engine that runs strong paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The car also features a new clutch and carburetor kit.
